Seoul, South Korea is a city full of culture and tradition, which seeps into every pore of the country. With its outstanding economic growth in such a short time, Korea still keeps up tradition and culture in the modern world. Many attractions combine modernity and authenticity to create something that is inherently South Korean. Here are a couple fun and interesting things to do while you visit Seoul.

The Han River

The Han River is one of the biggest attractions in Seoul, and many locals and travelers enjoy having picnics on the river's edge. Getting takeout of fried chicken and beer is the most popular, and aptly named chimaek; mixing the words chicken and maek-ju for beer. Other watersports are also very popular on the river.

Lotte World Tower

The Lotte World Tower is one of the tallest buildings in Seoul, with a total of 123 floors. There are many duty free shops, and other luxurious stores. The best part of the tower consists of its observation deck, at 500 feet. It gives amazing views of the rest of the beautiful city.

N Seoul Tower

With its amazing observation deck and the surrounding park, Namsan Tower is a staple thing to do in Seoul. The tower is an especially amazing attraction for couples or friends wanting to showcase their love. Lockets are attached to the fence along the tower, and have created a beautiful site to see.

Gyeongbokgung Palace

The Gyeongbokgung palace showcases amazing traditional buildings and pagodas of the Joseon Dynasty, where Gyeongbokgung was the main palace of the 1300’s. While wearing traditional Hanbok dress, you can even enter the grounds for free.

DMZ

The DMZ is also called the demilitarized zone, and marks the buffer between North and South Korea. It is a huge marker for South Korea’s independence, and is also used as a reminder for many historical events.
